Our resolute staff recently underwent comprehensive training for what we call the "Heart Bug”, formally known as Rhythm Express heart monitor, RX-1 mini. Now patients can benefit from the world’s smallest, most advanced 24-hour heart monitoring technology.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

            A provider may recommend this Heart Bug wireless device for symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, a fluttering sensation of the heart, episodes of fainting without a clear cause, an irregular heartbeat, etc. Often times patients do not have these symptoms during an appointment making it difficult to determine if symptoms are truly from the heart. However, this device is essentially a mobile electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) which allows heart activity to be monitored as patients go about their daily lives to capture abnormal heart rhythms if symptoms arise outside of the office.
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Based on the provider’s discretion, the device can be worn for up to 30 days. The data from this device can be quickly transmitted through wireless networks to the monitoring center and is collected three ways by auto-trigger, patient trigger, and heart rate trend. The results transmitted are extremely accurate which allows the provider to determine if symptoms are related to an abnormal heart rhythm. As for patient satisfaction, the Heart Bug is small; measuring about 3 inches in length and less than 1 inch thick, is lightweight and is waterproof.  This allows our patients to have no restrictions while using the device. So, get out there, be active, work hard, exercise, go swimming, all without having to worry about this device!

Additionally, a weight loss of 5 to 10% that can lead to significant improvements in cardiovascular health, blood pressure, diabetes risk, osteoarthritis-related knee pain, and fatty liver disease. Wegovy has shown promise in reducing the risk of heart disease. Wegovy and Zepbound offer the convenience of once-weekly injections, eliminating the need for daily dosing and injection devices are user-friendly and discreet, with no visible needles during administration. Lastly, another pro is improved physical appearance that can positively impact mental health, boosting confidence and energy levels while reducing anxiety.

This is driven by excess weight and body fat. If diabetes is left uncontrolled it can lead to heart disease, nerve damage, eye problems, and kidney disease.

Its weight-loss potential surfaced during clinical trials, leading to the FDA approval of Saxenda (Liraglutide) and Wegovy (Semaglutide) available at higher dosages as dedicated weight loss drugs to address the obesity crisis. Most recently, a new and promising weight loss drug was approved in 2023 called Zepbound (Tirzepatide) which has comparable properties to GLP-1 agonists and is also an injectable medication as well. Coupled with diet intervention and exercise, these three medications showed a significant reduction in weight compared to placebo with some patients losing at least 10% of body weight or more.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           November is National Diabetes Month. During this month, Montgomery Medical joins communities nationwide to find ways to bring awareness to diabetes. This is the month designated to work with our patients to take charge of their help to prevent diabetes. For diabetes patients, we will focus on better ways to help them control this disease to maintain healthy blood glucose levels.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           At Montgomery Medical, we help patients by reviewing their diet, medication changes, and exercises, and using Continual Glucose Monitors. We now have over 200 patients using Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring or FreeStyle Libre monitors. These devices have been instrumental in keeping patients aware of their blood sugar readings without pricking their fingers. We have seen significant decreases in patients’ A1C’s with the use of these monitors. They make our patients more aware of their blood sugar levels, which is especially important as we approach the holiday season.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ﻿
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There are measures in place to assist patients in 2024 to give them more access to these monitors. At Montgomery Medical, it is our goal to keep up with insurance changes and assist our pre-diabetics and diabetics to better control their blood sugars and live a healthier lifestyle.
